Hast Thou No Wound

Hast Thou No Wound

A poem by Amy Carmichael

Hast thou no scar?
No hidden scar on foot, or side, or hand?
I hear thee sung as mighty in the land,
I hear them hail thy bright ascendant star;
Hast thou no scar?

No wound? No scar?
Yet as the Master shall the servant be,
And pierced are the feet that follow Me;
But thine are whole; can he have followed far
Who hath no wound, no scar?

Amy Beatrice Carmichael was a Christian missionary to India where she opened an orphanage and established a mission. She was born in Ireland in 1867 and died in India in 1951, serving the Lord Jesus for 55 years. Having “followed far”, she finished her race wounded and scarred, no doubt with pierced feet. In heaven now, made whole and perfect, Amy Carmichael wears a crown of righteousness and remains a hero of our faith.
